Muddy Creek rises

Muddy Creek Music Hall celebrated its first anniversary in May, an unlikely listening room in a 19th-century grist mill. The venue really came into its own in 2016, attracting well-established performers such as Jim Lauderdale and Peter Asher with Albert Lee. Muddy Creek also brought in younger artists such as American Aquarium and Billy Strings, and continues to host a variety of shows by the Fiddle and Bow Society. Bill Heath operates the music venue in collaboration with Shana Whitehead, his romantic partner and the owner of Muddy Creek Cafe. Heath said prominent performers have started contacting him to book shows as the venue’s reputation has spread to Nashville, Tenn., and beyond.
